UB's newest, state-of-the-art computing site is open now! Students can game (and get stuff done) at Level Up in Lockwood.

Work hard

Level Up is also UB’s most advanced public computing site ever, with everything UB students need to level up their academics:

  • An abundance of Windows and Mac computers with Microsoft365 and other software
  • UB Print Anywhere kiosks
  • Lots of seating
  • Adequate power for charging personal devices

...and play hard, too

The pièce de resistance is the fully equipped Esports arena, with 52 dedicated gaming PCs pre-loaded with an impressive library of games for students to use.

Or, reserve a gaming console pod and game with friends on one of the latest consoles (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X). From Mario Kart to Madden, you’ll find dozens of games for single-player and co-op fun (and, if you don’t find what you’re looking for, you can suggest a game to add to the library).

Why gaming?

Why are the gaming spaces in Level Up a worthwhile addition to a UB public computing site?

“Level Up reflects our commitment to providing transformative educational experiences beyond the classroom,” UB President Satish Tripathi said at a ribbon-cutting event for the new space, “[experiences] that are both relevant to students and foster a sense of belonging in their communities.”

“Technology has the incredible power to bring people together,” added Brice Bible, UB Vice President and Chief Information Officer. “We have all experienced that over the past few years. This exciting technology-centric space is the next frontier for our students to work and play as they pursue their education at UB.”

UB Student Association President Nicholas Singh was also on hand for the ribbon-cutting. “In life, the only constant is change,” Nicholas said. “I am proud that UB recognizes this and works towards providing avenues such as Level Up for students to be part of that change.”
