University Council Representative

The UB Council serves as the primary oversight and advisory board to the University at Buffalo and its president and senior officers. 

Duties

This student representative sits on a 10-member board (the others are appointed by the governor of the State of New York) and serves as the voice for all UB students. The regular duties of the UB Council include:

  • Reviewing the university’s major plans and activities in the areas of academics, student life, finances, and building and grounds
  • Making recommendations to benefit the university in matters of community and alumni relations

Timeline for 2025 Elections

  • Monday, April 14: Application form opens on UBLinked
  • Friday, April 18: Application and biographies are due by 12:00 PM on UBLinked, form closes
  • Wednesday, April 23: Applicants will receive an email confirming their eligibility, along with UB Council Election Rules & Regulations, and may begin advertising once the email is sent.
  • Monday, April 28: Elections held online via UBLinked beginning at 10 a.m.
  • Tuesday, April 29: Elections continue online via UBLinked
  • Wednesday, April 30: Elections continue online via UBLinked until 11:59 p.m.
  • Friday, May 2: Unofficial election results provided to applicants by 5 p.m.
  • Monday, May 5: Official election results available and results sent out via all student email
