Update Zoom Workplace before August 10

To help protect the UB community, UBIT is updating the minimum version required to join Zoom meetings.

Managed university computers should receive the update automatically. If your managed device is not updated, contact your departmental IT support.

If you use Zoom on a personally owned or unmanaged device, open your Zoom Workplace application and check for updates before August 10th. To check which version you have, follow Zoom’s instructions.  

Some members of the UB community are still using older versions of the Zoom Workplace app. Updating to the latest version helps ensure the most secure and reliable meeting experience. 

Anyone unable to install the update can still join meetings through a supported web browser.

Zoom is also introducing a refreshed interface for its web portal, the website used to manage settings, recordings, meetings, and other account features.

The update changes the portal’s appearance and navigation, but does not significantly change how it works. The Zoom Workplace desktop application will be largely unaffected.

You can preview the new web portal interface before the campus-wide transition by turning on “Try new experience” near you profile image before the transition on or around August 26, 2026.
