Sustainable Manufacturing and Advanced Robotics Technologies Lab Fund

Wooden structures created by freshman architecture students as part of a yearlong design-build studio are on display at Artpark in Lewiston.

Help create the next generation of technologies, processes and education by supporting this fund.

UB’s Sustainable Manufacturing and Advanced Robotic Technologies (SMART) Community of Excellence is focused on developing advanced materials, technologies and processes that enable the sustainable, data-driven, cost effective production of high quality, customizable products.

This fund provides operational or research support as well as enhancements for the community.

Our interdisciplinary research brings together the talents of UB’s engineering, architecture, management, economics and health sciences students and faculty to bring products to market faster, regardless of their size and complexity, while remaining ecologically and economically sustainable. Research objectives including increasing the research footprint and activity in advanced manufacturing at UB, and increasing interdisciplinary science and research.

The SMART Community of Excellence impacts scholarship, education and engagement in all of the interdisciplinary SMART themes, and supports experiential learning opportunities that immerse students in the design and manufacturing processes.
