Department of Urban and Regional Planning Fund

Wooden structures created by freshman architecture students as part of a yearlong design-build studio are on display at Artpark in Lewiston.

This fund provides operational and research support and enhancements to the Department of Regional Planning.

The Department of Urban and Regional Planning—part of the School of Architecture and Planning—challenges students to reimagine and transform cities, strengthen and cultivate communities, enhance public services, forge new policies, and responsibly nurture the natural environment. This fund supports a variety of initiatives and resources throughout the department.

Within the department, we prepare students for careers in which they can make positive change in communities. Working closely with our faculty, students engage in cutting-edge research and fieldwork that prepares for leadership and professional excellence.

Here, we are motivated by a shared desire to plan and design communities in which people can live healthy, safe, and enjoyable lives. Concerns for diversity, inclusion and equity underscore our teaching, learning, research and service. Our faculty are engaged in important research; they are embedded in local communities while generating new knowledge for addressing global challenges.

Our home in Hayes Hall on UB’s South Campus — featuring state-of-the-art studio and research facilities — serves as a home base from which we engage challenges across the region, North America, and the world.
