VUCA is an acronym used to describe the volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity of general conditions and situations. We can use it to delve into in today’s global setup where technology is changing at a fast pace, there’s volatility of markets, complexity with all the mergers and acquisitions, changing employee profiles and the new generation of workforce who want the best of everything.

The qualities of a leader for today’s corporate setup should not have VUCA elements. These are the times when leaders should roll up their sleeves and get down in the field, nurture the talent in the organization and sow the seeds of growth and development – both organic and inorganic. Deepa Nagarajan, MS ’09, is an experienced management professional and educator with over 24 years of experience in various roles in several multinational corporations. She has a master’s degree in Management of IT and IT enabled services from University at Buffalo, a master’s degree in Management Information Systems from Amrita School of Business & is currently working on her doctoral degree in Human & Cultural Relationship management.
