Our Mission

UB executives are standing in front of a blue screen with the text: "More than 10,000 alumni made their first gift.".

To enhance UB’s impact on our students, our knowledge-generation, and our world by cultivating the connections and partnerships through engagement and philanthropy that will help the university achieve its goals.

Our Vision

A world where a UB education is within reach of any student who desires it; a world in which UB is ranked in the Top 25 of public universities nationwide, and a world in which UB Advancement is universally recognized as a thought leader and best in class advancement organization.

Our Goals

  • Strategic investment in academic, administrative, and other units based upon unrealized opportunity and creating optimal environment for success.
  • Contribute toward UB reaching the top tier in rankings by steadily increasing gift income and alumni and volunteer participation.
  • Create a leadership structure that is communicative and nurturing of staff and volunteers across the units.
  • Create a compelling case for support for UB—and the units—that describes our philanthropic aspirations and the impact on students, faculty, and the world.
  • Create an environment for alumni around the globe that is supportive, connected and offers opportunity for engagement.
  • Build collaborative relationships across the university for the common good.
  • Build a environment for development professionals that provides for career advancement.
  • Conduct our business in an ethical and fiscally sound manner.

Commitment to Diversity

University Advancement is committed to creating a culture where all people are safe, heard and valued. Here, we grow relationships and find innovative ways to engage with all members of the greater UB community. We aspire to be an organization that attracts and retains a diverse staff that welcomes and engages all our alumni and friends. The future of our work must be inclusive. We are dedicated to cultivating a culture of trust and collaboration. A team that embraces these values will be better positioned to recognize and seize opportunities that maximize our success in all that we do.
