About Susan Steffan
In her role at the CEL, Susan Steffan leads the center’s efforts to provide training and support to business owners so their businesses can be successful, grow and contribute to Western New York’s economic success. She also serves on the board of directors for Alden State Bank. Prior to joining the CEL in January of 2022, she worked for Medaille University, where she was an associate professor in the Department of Business, Management and Leadership. She also served as department chair and director of the school’s MBA program. Prior to her roles in higher education, she held positions in the private sector and ran an independent consulting business. Susan earned both her MBA and BS in business administration from the UB School of Management, where her passion for negotiations began. After graduating, she developed those skills through such corporate roles as purchasing and sales. She has offered negotiations training to industry and business groups, and created and taught college courses in both negotiations and consensus building.
