Mark Stewart, BS ’84

Stewart is the senior vice president of operations at Lockheed Martin, with responsibility for developing and implementing strategies to transform the company’s global operations and culture. He is accountable for enterprise performance, advanced manufacturing technologies, production operations, quality, supply chain management, facilities and oversees a 48,000-person operations workforce. 

Stewart is a seasoned leader with over four decades of experience in program, technical and managerial positions, including vice president roles in space operations, navigation systems, and commercial space systems engineering and operations. At Lockheed Martin Space, he significantly improved performance across product centers and successfully delivered and launched over 130 space vehicles. 

As the vice president of navigation systems, Stewart demonstrated results-oriented leadership in the Global Positioning System (GPS) III program. He was responsible for GPS III development and production, constellation operations and capturing future business opportunities. He successfully led the program team to deliver the first state-of-the-art GPS III space vehicle, showcasing new compatibilities with the existing satellite constellation and the Next Generation Operational Control Segment (OCX). 

Stewart is a seasoned professional in the locomotive industry, having started his career in production supervision at General Electric’s Transportation Division. He is a distinguished alumnus of General Electric’s Manufacturing Management and Edison Advanced Course in Engineering Programs. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from UB and a master’s degree in business management from Pennsylvania State University.
