Jonathan Chou, BA ’88

Chou is a seasoned finance and operations executive with over 30 years of experience, most recently as the chief financial officer of the UTAC Group, a Singapore-headquartered leading independent provider of assembly and test services for the semiconductor industry. 

From 2010 to 2018, Chou held the role of CFO at Kulicke & Soffa Industries, a $2B plus market capitalization company and a leading provider of semiconductor packaging and electronic assembly solutions supporting the global automotive, consumer, communications, computing and industrial segments. 

He started his career as a management associate at Citibank and later held several senior finance leadership positions with Fortune 500 companies, including Honeywell, Tyco ADT, Lucent Technologies (Bell Labs), and the Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG). 

Chou currently serves on the board of directors of MicroPort Scientific, a Hong Kong Stock Exchange-listed global medical device company headquartered in Shanghai, China. He also holds the audit committee’s chairman role and has been a member of the remuneration committee since its IPO in 2010. He was appointed in 2021 as an independent non-executive Director of Microport Cardioflow before its successful IPO on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in February 2021. MicroPort CardioFlow focuses on the research, development, manufacturing, and marketing of comprehensive medical device solutions for treating valvular heart diseases.  

He also volunteers and serves on the board of directors of Emerging Markets Investors Alliance, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that enables institutional investors to support good governance, promote sustainable development, and improve investment performance in the governments and companies they invest. 

Chou holds a bachelor of arts in economics from UB and an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. He and his wife reside in Singapore and split their time between their homes in the U.S. and Singapore.
