The Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development continues work to ensure that UB’s research practices are in full compliance with federal, university and sponsor regulations, and that we have a solid, comprehensive research infrastructure in place while continuing to support researchers, investigators, and their research programs and protocols.

UB and SUNY are switching from IRBNet to Click Portal for managing grants and compliance. This administrative tool will integrate administrative tasks making it easier for investigators and research administrators.

In our ongoing efforts to provide better electronic systems to support UB’s comprehensive research environment, we are pleased to announce the purchase of two new tools to better support research activities and compliance: Click, a grants management system which contains pre-award, post-award and compliance functions (including modules for IRB, financial conflicts of interest, IACUC, and safety committees); and OnCore, a clinical trials management system (CTMS), which will allow for enhanced trial management, robust reporting, enrollment tracking and accurate clinical research billing.

In September 2014, University at Buffalo restructured its four IRB committees into committees that can review all types of protocols. This structure allows for more frequent meetings and is aimed at increasing efficiency and standardizing practices across the HRPP program.   These changes are necessary, particularly with the increase in the number of protocol submissions we are experiencing.
