On Thursday, April 23, 2015 from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., UB will host the Women in STEM Summit in the Student Union.
The Women in STEM Summit is open to anyone interested in celebrating the accomplishments of women in science, technology, engineering and math. Attendees will learn how to increase participation across women in STEM and have the chance to network with accredited speakers and professionals. There is no cost to attend.
Kathleen Murphy, Service Manager for Network and Classroom Services (NCS), part of UB Information Technology, told UBIT News, “Women in STEM fields are underrepresented, underpaid, and often underappreciated. The summit is an opportunity to acknowledge women’s contributions to STEM and develop our potential. I am looking forward to spending a morning with over 200 of the area’s brightest and most talented women in STEM as we inspire, grow and connect together.”
A dynamic keynote speaker will set the tone for this event before attendees are given the opportunity to participate in one of three panel discussions: Negotiating Personal Power, Building Your Professional Network, or Bridging the Gap.
The summit ends with a networking reception in 145B Student Union. Representatives from Regeneron, Cognigen Corporation, Blue Sky Design Supply, Bridging the Gap Africa, Shatter I.T. LLC, and M&T Bank will be on hand.
