Unit Business Officer
As the Unit Business Officer (UBO) for the Office of Research, Innovation and Economic Development (ORIED), Anne Kent develops and executes strategies that align with the Senior Vice President’s and the University’s goals to support decision making within the unit. She serves as ORIED’s strategic business partner for budget, financial management, HR and business operations, and works closely with unit heads at UB’s units, centers and institutes on business strategy, goal-setting and day-to-day operations.
She is a seasoned finance professional with expertise in financial planning, reporting and governance. Her focus areas include audit quality, operational efficiency, and ensuring rigorous compliance and oversight, including complex funding and grant structures.
Kent joined UB in January 2025 to serve as a project administrator officer responsible for facilitating asset transfer and strategic alignment during organizational integration between Hauptman Woodward Institute (HWI) and UB. Her leadership and impact during this transition was informed by her prior 24 years at HWI, most recently serving as the institute’s chief financial officer.
