To use Recreation services and facilities outside of the hours listed above, UB Faculty and Staff are required to purchase a membership.
Members of Independent Health who possess the Independent Health's Health Extras prepaid debit card may use it to purchase* memberships and locker rentals online or at Member Services at Alumni Arena or Clark Hall.
*Payment used must be the Independent Health's Health Extras prepaid debit card or it will be declined.
Members of Highmark BCBS who possess the Highmark BCBS Wellness Debit card may use it to purchase memberships and locker rentals, however you must purchase these items with your own form of payment and then request reimbursement directly through Highmark BCBS.
Great news! Once you've purchased your Recreation Membership, you'll have the opportunity to secure a parking permit by contacting the UB Parking & Transportation office. They will assist you in obtaining your parking permit, ensuring a seamless experience.

Your dedication to fitness is awesome! Ever considered a locker? Enjoy your exclusive workout space – keep belongings secure, change privately, and streamline your workouts.
To rent a locker, a valid recreation membership or current UB Undergraduate Student status is required. Any locks left on our daily locker section overnight will be taken off, and contents will be discarded. These lockers are meant for daily use exclusively.
Kindly be aware that we cannot assume liability for lost or stolen items.

Alumni Arena Pool
North Campus
Welcome to Alumni Arena - the ultimate hub of excitement, excellence, and athleticism! This top-notch facility houses the university's NCAA Division I sports teams and faculty. Enjoy invigorating fitness activities, intense men's and women's Mid-American Conference basketball competitions, and inspiring Distinguished Speakers Series lectures. It's also the go-to venue for large-scale events, including the grand commencement ceremony.

Alumni Arena was built in two phases, in 1982 and 1985. The addition brought a gymnastic area, activity rooms, locker rooms, and racquetball courts, among other features. Inside, you'll find a 6,000-seat gym for basketball, wrestling, and volleyball, which also serves as the venue for commencements and talks by prominent speakers. Not to forget the amazing 50-meter Olympic pool with a capacity of 1.2 million gallons. And let's not overlook its role as the home of the Department of Theatre and Dance. With so much to offer, Alumni Arena is a must-see destination for sports, education, and entertainment!

Alumni Arena's Main Gym hosts the Bulls men's and women's basketball, wrestling, and women's volleyball teams. It boasts the largest "free-floating" US hardwood floor, with basketball, volleyball, and badminton courts surrounded by a 200-meter track. Renovated in summer 2004, it seats 6,783 spectators. Main Gym also hosts Recreational Intramural Sports Leagues each semester, including basketball and volleyball.

Member Services - 175 Alumni Arena
The Alumni Arena Pool hosts UB's swimming and diving teams, rivaling top East facilities with its versatile features, including movable bulkheads, multiple springboards and diving platforms, handicap accessibility, and seating for 1,000 spectators.
Open REC: Swim is available daily year-round. The pool measures 50m x 25yd and holds 700,000 gallons of water.

The Walter Kunz Stadium provides practice facilities for intramural activities, clubs, marching band and team practices. The 4,000-seat stadium on the northwest side of the North Campus has an eight-lane, 400-meter running track.

South Campus
Clark Hall is the South Campus's athletic and recreation facility. Its contains gymnasiums, handball courts, a swimming pool, a weight room, men's and women's locker facilities and offices. Current activities include intramural, club, and summer sports programs. Clark Hall was constructed as the Irwin B. Clark Memorial Gymnasium in 1937 and is three stories tall with a full basement. An addition was built in 1948.
