UB Recreation offers free weekly fitness classes at Broadview Arena on North Campus throughout the fall and spring semesters.
Classes are available exclusively for UB undergraduate and graduate students.

This dynamic flow seamlessly links advanced mat and standing Pilates exercises into continuous sequences that challenge the core, glutes, legs, and upper body. Emphasis is placed on power generation from the center, breath coordination, balance, and controlled transitions. Expect complex movement patterns, longer holds, layered progressions, and minimal rest between exercises.
Band Burn Pilates is a high-energy Pilates class using resistance bands to intensify every movement. Expect targeted strength work, deep muscle activation, and a serious burn as you sculpt, tone, and strengthen your entire body.
New to indoor cycling? This class is the perfect place to start! Our Beginner Spin class introduces you to the basics of spin biking, including proper bike setup, riding positions, and simple resistance techniques. You’ll enjoy easy-to-follow intervals set to motivating music, with plenty of guidance and options to go at your own pace. No experience needed, just come ready to move, have fun, and build confidence on the bike.
This class is a muscle-toning class focused on body muscle strength. Designed using weighted bars, you will perform a variety of traditional weight training moves. Feel stronger with every session!
This is a fundamentals focused, no contact boxing class. Students will learn how to properly wrap their hands, select appropriate glove sizes, and practice basic footwork and boxing techniques. There will be no sparring or student to student contact. Students will be asked to bring a jump rope.
This class is a high intensity, no contact kickboxing class focused on basic to intermediate techniques combined with conditioning. Students will not spar or strike each other at any point. The goal is to provide a challenging, energetic workout while emphasizing proper form and technique.
Strength starts from the center. Iron Core is a focused, high-intensity class designed to build deep core strength, stability, and endurance. Using a mix of functional movements, isometric holds, dynamic core circuits, and breathwork, this class targets your abs, obliques, lower back, and glutes—the powerhouse muscles that support every movement.

Iron Core Pilates is a powerful, strength-driven Pilates class focused on building deep core stability, muscular endurance, and total-body control. Expect challenging sequences, slow-burn holds, and precise movements designed to sculpt, strengthen, and fire up your entire core.
This class is open to all skill levels and focuses on improving hip mobility and overall flexibility. The class will incorporate stretching and mobility exercises inspired by disciplines such as Muay Thai, Jiu Jitsu, ballet, and dance. The goal is to help students move better, reduce injury risk, and build a strong foundation for other fitness activities.
Unlock the full potential of your body with our high-energy calisthenics class. Designed for all fitness levels, this class blends strength, mobility, and control through bodyweight training. You'll build muscle, improve coordination, and develop functional movement patterns—no machines, just you and gravity. Expect dynamic warm-ups, skill progressions (like pull-ups, push-ups, handstands, and core drills), and guided cooldowns. Whether you're a beginner learning the basics or an experienced athlete refining advanced skills, MoveLab will challenge and inspire you every step of the way.
Get stronger, move better, and master your body.
This class focuses on strengthening the core muscles, improving posture, enhancing flexibility, and promoting overall body awareness. In a typical Mat Pilates class, participants perform a series of exercises on a mat, using their body weight for resistance.
We are putting our SPIN on cycling. Feed off the incredible energy in the room with a combination of endurance and strength building intervals. With a mix of fast sprints and heavy climbs all timed to the beat of the music, you’ll be counting down the hours till you’re back in the saddle once again.
Yoga & Meditation is a calming, mindful class that blends gentle yoga movement with guided meditation and breathwork. Designed to reduce stress, improve flexibility, and restore balance, this class leaves you feeling relaxed, centered, and renewed.
This high-energy dance class features intervals that help improve cardiovascular fitness while also enhancing balance, coordination, agility, and to some degree, strength through the application of beginner-accessible choreography.
These free, semester-long classes, offered in partnership with Employee Engagement & Success, improve cardiovascular fitness, endurance, and balance.
ResFit is a network of residence hall fitness centers managed by Campus Living, offering convenient workout spaces located directly within UB’s residential communities. These facilities include cardio equipment, free weights, and access to group fitness classes, making it easy for students to stay active where they live.
We’re excited to share that we are currently creating and developing an awesome lineup of Mind-Body Workshops for the Fall semester!
From mindfulness and meditation to movement, relaxation, and wellness-focused experiences, these workshops are designed to help students recharge, connect, and feel their best throughout the semester.

This introductory lesson series is perfect for adult (18+) beginners looking to learn the fundamentals of pickleball in a fun and supportive environment. Participants will learn basic rules, scoring, court positioning, and key skills like serving, returning, dinking, and volleying.
No prior experience needed, just bring your paddle and get ready to play.

Join us at the Ellicott Tennis Courts for adult (18+) group tennis lessons designed for all skill levels!
This 5-week program helps players build confidence and improve their game through instruction on strokes, strategy, rules, scoring, etiquette, drills, and singles/doubles play.
More advanced players will also focus on spin, footwork, court positioning, and game strategy.
Build your skills, grow your confidence, and have fun on the court while staying active through every lesson!
