Scholarships

Scholarships are one of the most valuable ways to fund your education as they do not need to be repaid.

UB offers a wide range of scholarships for undergraduate, transfer, graduate and professional students. Many are funded by generous alumni and friends of the university, with criteria that vary by award.

How to Apply

  • All first year applicants are considered for merit scholarships. No separate application is needed. Just make sure your UB application is complete by the published deadline.
  • Presidential ScholarshipsUB Athletic Scholarships and many other UB scholarships do require separate applications.
  • Use the UB Scholarship Portal to apply for campus-based scholarships. Just log in with your UBIT credentials and complete one application per year to be considered for multiple opportunities.
  • Graduate students should explore funding options through the Graduate School and their academic departments.

Tips for Maximizing Your Aid

  • Complete the FAFSA each year to help scholarship reviewers assess your financial need.
  • Meet published deadlines to be considered for automatic merit awards.
  • Explore department-specific and external scholarships for additional opportunities.
  • Use the Consumer Finance Bureau's comparison tool to evaluate financial aid offers.
