Graduate Fellowships and Scholarships

UB offers a variety of fellowships and scholarships to support outstanding graduate and professional students. These awards may come from:

  • University funds
  • National and international programs (some require UB nomination, others you apply to directly)

Eligibility often depends on academic achievement, financial need, faculty recommendations and other criteria set by the funding source.

How Funding is Awarded

Most fellowship decisions are made by graduate faculty within your department, but UB also offers special awards managed by the Office of Fellowships and Scholarships.

UB Scholarship Portal

The UB Scholarship Portal is your one-stop site for applying to donor-funded scholarships across campus. Here’s how it works:

  • Log in with your UBIT credentials.
  • Complete the General Application annually.
  • Get matched with recommended opportunities.
  • Track reference requests and accept awards.

If you don’t see your department’s scholarships listed, check their website directly. For help, email: ubscholarships@buffalo.edu
