Summer TAP

If you're a New York State resident, you may be eligible for a Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) grant during UB’s summer term, which is considered accelerated study.

Eligibility

To qualify for summer TAP, you must:

  • Be enrolled in a degree program at UB
  • Have completed at least 24 credits during the previous fall and spring semesters (F grades do not count as completed credits)
  • Have been enrolled full-time (12 degree-applicable credits) in the preceding spring term
  • Meet New York State good academic standing requirements after the summer term
  • Avoid failing or dropping summer courses, which could impact future TAP eligibility

What You Need to Do

Visit the HESC website to:

  • Submit your TAP application
  • Add the summer term to an existing application
  • Check your application status
  • UB’s undergraduate college code: 1010

TAP Usage and Limits

  • You can receive up to 8 semesters of TAP (or 10 semesters if you're in the EOP program)
  • Summer TAP counts toward your total TAP eligibility
  • Half-time enrollment (6–11 credits) uses half a semester
  • Full-time enrollment (12+ credits) uses one full semester
  • Only new credit hours count—repeated courses are not eligible
