In addition to tuition and fees, other charges may be assessed on your account, such as meal planshousing or course fees. When determining your cost of attendance, please take these charges into account.  University tuition and fees are subject to change.

If you are not enrolled in one of these approved online academic programs, you are not eligible for a Comprehensive Fee Waiver.  Please see our Frequently Asked Questions about Fees.

Fall 2023 Resident Online Tuition and Fees

Students who are enrolled in online academic programs are eligible for a Comprehensive Fee waiver.  If you are a Resident taking classes remotely, in-person or hybrid and are not enrolled in an online academic program, please view the Resident Full-Time tab on the Fall tuition and fees website for your tuition and fee rates.

Per Credit Rates

*Fees Include:

  • Comprehensive fees — college, technology and transcript fees. The Comprehensive Fee is paid by all students at the University at Buffalo, unless they meet fee waiver criteria.  Career Services fee is not charged to MBA or advanced degree School of Management students. 
  • Academic Excellence and Success fee (ACES)
  • Student Activity fee- fee is waived for Undergraduates.

Effective Fall 2020, New York State residents enrolled in exclusively online academic programs will be charged the tuition rate for resident students. The exclusively online academic programs have been previously approved by the Provost’s Office and registered by the New York State Education Department.  These programs are in distance education format, consistent with the student’s intention to take courses exclusively online at the time of application and matriculation toward the degree. Students who are enrolled in one of these approved online academic programs are eligible for a Comprehensive Fee waiver.  If you are not enrolled in one of these approved online academic programs, then you are not eligible for a Comprehensive Fee Waiver.  Please see our Frequently Asked Questions about Fees.

Notice About Student Health Insurance Requirement

Changes to Health Insurance Requirement for Fall 2024

Effective Fall 2024, UB will discontinue the domestic health insurance plan offered by the university to our students. Additionally, we will no longer mandate health insurance for domestic students attending the University at Buffalo. Health-related  programs may require students to have health insurance. Please check with your academic program about specific health insurance requirements. Learn more about the change.
