Update from VP Brian Hamluk regarding campus safety concerns

In an effort to keep the campus community informed regarding yesterday’s threat to the safety of our campus community, I want to share the following with our campus community.

While federal privacy laws prevent us from discussing specific disciplinary actions involving UB students, we can share that when a student is alleged to have committed, or threatened to commit, a serious crime, whether on or off campus, our Student Conduct office will issue an interim suspension that prohibits the student from being on campus.

Please rest assured that the safety and well-being of our students and our entire community is—and will always be—our highest priority. As Chief Beaty noted in her recent communication, there is no ongoing threat to students, faculty or staff at this time.

Sincerely,

Brian Hamluk
Vice President for Student Life
