Override Enrollment Limits
Learn how to override enrollment limits for a student in HUB. An example of when this is acceptable is when a student requires the credits in order to graduate on time (not early).
Enrollment Overrides Are Not Guaranteed
Overrides are subject to space and pedagogical limits, and must be approved by the student’s academic advisor.
Refer to Your Academic Department for More Information
Your academic department may provide additional guidance regarding credit override limits. Please contact them for more information.
About Term Activation
- Term Activation is a process in HUB that must be completed each term a student intends to enroll in classes at the University at Buffalo.
- This process makes Student Records active for the term and allows students to enroll in classes.
- Use the Term Activation page to maintain a student’s career term record.
- Although the process is completed automatically, this example will demonstrate a manual Term Activation.
Manually Override Enrollment Limits
1. Through the menu in HUB, navigate to Records and Enrollment, Student Term Information, and Term Activate a Student.
You can also access Term Activation if you have the Enrollment tile in HUB.
2. To Term Activate the student, enter the ID (Person Number) directly in the ID field.
- If you do not know the ID, you can also search using any of the fields defined on this page.
- Note: National ID = Social Security Number (SSN).
- Once you’ve entered the Person Number, click “Search.”
3. Click the Enrollment Limit tab.
4. Use the Enrollment Limit page to manage a student’s term enrollment limits.
Use the Find, View All or directional arrows to go to the term to override the enrollment limits. To view all the terms for the student, click the "View All" link.
5. Click the Override Unit Limits option.
Select the term and click the Override Unit Limits option.
Understand Which Overrides Are Appropriate
As part of your security, you may be granted the ability to perform overrides in performing Term and Enrollment transactions. It is important to know that some overrides are appropriate to apply, but others may require additional business process steps.
- When you select the Override Unit Limits check box, the system will automatically display the fields that can be updated: Max Total Units, Max No GPA Units and Max Wait List Units field values.
- Modify the fields accordingly.
6. To save the record, scroll to the end of the list of records and click “Save.”
You have successfully updated enrollment limits for a student on their career term record.
