The HUB Faculty Center, accessible through MyUB, is a portal through which faculty and graders can view class rosters and communicate with students, as well as add, change and submit grades.
In the HUB Faculty Center, log into My UB and click the “HUB Faculty Center” link. This will bring you to the My Schedule page.
The My Schedule page will display the current Term (semester). If you want to view a different term, click the “Change Term” button.
On the Faculty Center main page, note the Icon Legend located just above the My Teaching Schedule section of the page. The legend explains the meaning of the icons that will appear with your teaching schedule.
In the My Teaching Schedule group box, select the Class Roster button to the left of the desired class.
In the Enrolled Students box, you will see the roster that lists the student information. At the bottom of the screen there are two buttons – “Notify Selected Students” and “Notify All Students.”
On the Send Notification page, note that all the active student email addresses are populated in the BCC field. This is to protect the student’s identity. Compose your email and then click the “Send Notification” button at the bottom of the page.
To access the Faculty Center, log into My UB and click the HUB Faculty Center link. This will bring you to the My Schedule page.
Use the My Schedule page to view your teaching schedule for the current semester. The Select display option allows you to “Show All Classes” or “Show Enrolled Classes Only” depending on the radio button you select.
The My Teaching Schedule group box displays all of the classes you are teaching including the Class number, Class Title, number of students Enrolled, Days & Times that the class is held, Room (class location) and Class Dates.
The Class Roster icon is located to the left of the Class column (three people standing together). Use this button to view the class roster for your class. Click on the Photo icon to view a photograph of the student. If you have a large class and cannot see the entire list on one page, click the scrollbar located to the right to scroll down the screen.
Use the “Enrollment Status” drop-down list to view currently enrolled students, students who have dropped the class during Drop/Add, or both.
Use the Select display option to view the photos of your students.
The initial view is one student at a time. If you want to view your class roster with photos in a list, select the “3 Column Photo Class List” button.
A new window will open that will show you a 3X3 listing of your students. This list is printable.
If you want just a listing of all your students, click on the “Printer Friendly Version” link. Use the browser’s print function to print the resulting page.
To navigate back to the My Schedule page, click on the My Schedule navigation button rather than using your browser’s navigation features.
If you want to download your class roster to an Excel file, navigate to the “My Schedule” page and select the class roster icon for the appropriate class you wish to download (see previous steps).
In the “Enrolled Students” box there is an icon that appears as a matrix with a red arrow pointing down. Use this download icon to open your class roster as an Excel spreadsheet, which can then be saved for your own purposes.
A new window should open that will allow you to download your file. The download procedure will depend upon the browser you are using. Some browsers will open the file in Excel, while others may download the file to a specific download directory.
If you need to change a class to view another class roster, use the “change class” link to return to the Faculty Center/My Schedule page. You can then select which class you would like to view.
To access the Faculty Center, log into MY UB and click the HUB Faculty Center Link.
When you click on the Class/Catalog Search tab, you’ll be able to search for Classes by entering the Search Criteria on the page.
In the Term area, click the drop-down box and select the term for which you would like to search for classes.
In the Class Search Criteria group box, either type in the UB two or three letter code for the Course Subject, or if you are not certain of the exact subject code, click the select subject button to see an alphabetized listing of all subjects. This will allow you to locate the code for your Course Subject.
Note: If you do not select a Course Subject, your search will fail and you will receive the following warning:
“Your search will exceed the maximum limit of 160 sections. Specify additional criteria to continue.”
To search for the subject, click the select subject button.
For example, if you were looking for Psychology, click on the “P” and scroll down the list until you find PSY Psychology. Upon finding it, click the Select button to select that course. You will see that the Course Subject area is now populated with Psychology.
If the Course Number field does not default to the “contains” options, use the Course Number drop down list to select it. This allows you to search for a course number even if you don’t know if there are affiliated recitations or labs to the class which are represented with two or three character extensions to the number. Enter the three digit course number if you know it or just leave the field blank.
In the Course Career field, select the appropriate Course Career for this course.
You may view only classes that have remaining seats or any scheduled class. For all classes open or not, ensure that the “Show Open Classes Only” check box is not checked. To see only classes with remaining seats, click the “Show Open Classes Only” option.
Select the “Additional Criteria” link if you want to limit your search using other variables such as day, time, instructor, etc.
When HUB is opened, it defaults to the last semester that was viewed. If you have selected the correct semester and are still not seeing your classes, check with your Department Scheduler to make sure you are set up correctly as an instructor for the class in HUB.
Click on the appropriate icon to the left of the class. See the full instructions on this page for more details.
For security reasons, your Faculty Center will close after 40 minutes of inactivity. Even entering grades from the drop-down menu will qualify as “inactive” time. To help with this, make sure your pop-up blocker is enabled. HUB will give you a warning pop-up when your session is about to end.
Avoid being timed out of your session when grading a large class by uploading your grades from an external file. Please see the tutorials above for grade upload instructions.
