Types of Transcripts

Official: Electronic

The Office of the Registrar offers electronic transcript requests, which are fulfilled by Parchment. Electronic transcripts are official documents and include several security features.

Official: Paper

The Office of the Registrar processes undergraduate, graduate and School of Pharmacy transcripts. Paper official transcripts are official documents, and include several authentication and security features, including the UB logo, seal, signature of the Registrar and microprinting. UB does not fax official transcripts.

Unofficial

Students with HUB access may obtain a copy of their unofficial transcript through their HUB Student Center. This transcript is clearly marked as “unofficial” and does not include features such as the UB logo, address or seal. UB does not mail, fax or email copies of unofficial transcripts.

Faculty and staff can generate an unofficial transcript through HUB.

Dental, Law and Medical Students

Records for the School of Dental Medicine, School of Law and Jacobs School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences are maintained within those schools. Current or former dental, law or medical students should contact their respective schools to obtain academic transcripts.

Transcripts for Departments Are Available by Special Request

The Office of the Registrar typically will not provide paper copies of transcripts to departments within UB. To request an exception to this policy, please contact us.

Transcript Forgery? Contact Us.

If you come across a UB transcript and believe it to be a forgery, please contact us.

Holds May Prevent the Release of Official Transcripts

Current or former students who have holds that prevent the release of their transcript will not be able to receive a copy of their official transcript. Financial holds do not prevent the release of official transcripts. Requests will be reviewed by the Office of the Registrar and processed accordingly.

Certain Sanctions May Result in Permanent Notation

Certain sanctions may result in a permanent notation on a student’s transcript, as per regulations found in the Student Code of Conduct.

An INR Hold May Prevent a Student From Requesting a Transcript

Some students may have had an INR hold placed on their record when we converted to HUB. This hold was placed to ensure that the record is accurate in the current system. These students should be directed to reg-transcripts@buffalo.edu, which can review the record, update the record as needed and remove the hold.
