BUFFALO, N.Y./ROCHESTER, N.Y.—Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) and the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences have formed a new collaborative academic pathway providing qualified RIT students the opportunity to earn a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree or a Master of Science (MS) in pharmaceutical sciences.
As part of the memorandum of understanding, two eligible RIT students each academic year will be assured an admissions interview for UB’s PharmD program and assured admission to the MS in pharmaceutical sciences program spaces each year, provided they meet all application and admissions requirements.
“This partnership with UB creates an exciting pathway for our RIT scholars to advance into pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences careers while building on the strong scientific foundation they receive at RIT,” said André Hudson, dean of RIT’s College of Science. “We are proud to collaborate with UB to expand opportunities for our scholars and strengthen the future health care workforce.”
The agreement builds on a longstanding relationship between the two institutions and continues a rich history of enrolling RIT students into UB’s programs, while establishing a seamless pathway for students to advance their education and careers in pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences.
“The UB School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences values its relationship with RIT, and this agreement further strengthens our ties,” said Gary Pollack, dean of the University at Buffalo (UB) School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. “We look forward to welcoming RIT’s talented and exceptional students into our PharmD and MS programs.”
For over 140 years, the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences has continually been a leader in the education of pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists, renowned for innovation in clinical practice and research. The school is accredited by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education and is the No. 1 ranked school of pharmacy in New York State and No. 19 in the United States by U.S. News & World Report.
