“Apprenticeships and residencies are essential bridges between academic training and professional practice for college students,” said Associate Department Chair at the University at Buffalo, Lynne Koscielniak, who noted that UB (2nd Gen’s founding alma mater), Buffalo State, and Niagara University, will now offer course credit for apprentices, linking academic preparation with professional experience.

“When students excel in on-campus production work, the next step is gaining real-world experience—and Buffalo’s vibrant theatre community offers an ideal setting. It’s especially meaningful that UB alumni—now the founders and artistic leaders at 2nd Gen—are making this possible for the next generation. Their commitment gives trained theatre practitioners the chance to stay, grow, and thrive in the region they love.”

UB students who wish to discuss these behind the scenes opportunities at SGT may be in contact with Professor Koscielniak at lk2@buffalo.edu. All are encouraged to read about the opportunities in the article.
