Policies, Procedures, and Criteria for Faculty Personnel Actions (Beginning July 1, 2025)

On October 24, President Tripathi promulgated the Faculty Senate Resolution to Revise the Policies, Procedures, and Criteria for Appointment, Promotion & Tenure (CAPT), which had been unanimously approved at the September 17, 2024 Faculty Senate meeting. The updated Policies, Procedures, and Criteria for Appointment, Promotion & Tenure are effective as of July 1, 2025.

The following updated Policies, Procedures, and Criteria for Faculty Personnel Actions is effective starting July 1, 2025 for cases being considered in Fall 2025.

For dossiers submitted BEFORE July 1, 2025 for consideration during the 2024-25 academic year, please use the old Policies, Procedures, and Criteria for Appointment, Promotion & Tenure.

II.C.2. Schedule of Review** (updated May 2015)

For promotions to Full Professor/Librarian:

Receipt of Dossiers in Provost's Office Based on Subsequent Anticipated Effective Appointment/Promotion Date:

  • Dossier due October 1st for appointment by July 1 of the following calendar year (most 12-month appointments)
  • Dossier due December 1 for appointment by September 1 of the following calendar year (most 10-month appointments)

For continuing appointment at any rank, and promotions to Associate Professor/Associate Librarian:

  • Dossier due October 15 for appointment by January 1 of the following calendar year

Final submission date for all dossiers:  February 1 (Petition for ExtensionDownload pdf(61 KB))

N.B. This deadline is not a due date but is the last possible submission date for all dossiers to be considered for review in that academic year.
