The President's Review Board (PRB) is the faculty advisory body to the President and Provost on matters of appointments, promotion, and tenure at UB.

The PRB is comprised of a Chair, who must be a senior Professor/Librarian (non-voting member), and nine tenured Professors/Librarians (voting members).

Board members are appointed for staggered, three-year terms for the following dossier reviews and actions:

Tenure Track Librarians/Professors:

  • Appoint as Associate Librarian/Associate Professor with tenure
  • Grant Tenure as Associate Librarian/Associate Professor
  • Promote to Associate Librarian/Associate Professor with tenure
  • Appoint as Full Librarian/Full Professor with tenure
  • Grant Tenure as Full Librarian/Full Professor
  • Promote to Full Librarian/Full Professor 

Non-tenure Track:

  • Appoint/Promote to Research Professor

The PRB members’ names are provided for information purposes only. All inquiries concerning the promotion/tenure process should be directed to the Senior Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs. Any contact with the Chair or individual members of the PRB about pending or upcoming cases could jeopardize the review process. Candidates are advised that PRB members are explicitly instructed not to discuss any case under review at any level.
