Jason A. Sprowl, PhD, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, a 2020-22 UB Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) K Scholar alumnus, has received a 2023 Division for Translational and Clinical Pharmacology Early Career Award from The American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET). Sprowl was profiled with the members of his K Scholar cohort in an October 2022 CTSI story.

As shared in a School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences feature, Sprowl received the award in recognition of his research studying the contribution of solute carriers (SLCs) in drug-induced toxicity and related transformative strategies that target these proteins while maintaining drug efficacy.

Sprowl will be presented with the award, which recognizes excellence in translational and clinical pharmacology research, at the May 2023 ASPET Annual Meeting in St. Louis. He will also present a lecture on his work at the meeting, titled "Regulation of Solute Carriers by Disruption of Tyrosine Kinases and Associated Clinical Outcome.”
