Although similar to email, you must be logged into a course to read and send course messages.

Overview
Messages (also called Course Messages) are private and secure text-based communications that occur within your course and among course members.
You must be logged into UB Learns to read or send Course Messages.
Messages are not new to UB Learns. The Messages page in Ultra Base Navigation provides a more efficient way to manage messages across all your courses.
Course Messages are different from emails sent from UB Learns, which are sent via an email server outside of UB Learns and are read by students using a separate email program.
Reading Messages
Click on a course name. A new drawer for your course slides out from the right and shows you the Course Messages page.
Click on the Inbox link.
Sending Messages
Click on the plus icon. A new drawer for your course slides out from the right and shows you the Compose Message page.
