Using My Virtual Computing Lab

Learn how to access the most popular UB-licensed software in the Cybraries and Public labs directly from your personal computer. These programs are served "from the cloud" and are available on or off campus at any time.

Software was selected based on students' recommendation in a Student IT Survey. Contact UBIT to recommend additional software titles.

Configure your connection and connect. How you configure it depends on your operating system.  Once you configure, you can connect to My Virtual Computing Lab and run software.

You can connect to My Virtual Computing Lab from Windows-based computers in two different ways: Remote Desktop or RemoteApp. Determine which connection method best suits your needs.

Using My Virtual Computing Lab from a Macintosh computer requires a special remote desktop app that you download from Microsoft. You can access the software in My Virtual Computing Lab using this app, as well as save work to your UBfs Myfiles (S: drive), your local hard drive (Macintosh HD) or any connected drives and print to any connected printer.

Using My Virtual Computing Lab from a Linux operating system requires a special remote desktop app that you download from Sourceforge. You can access the software in My Virtual Computing Lab using this app, as well as save work to your UBfs Myfiles (S: drive) or your local hard drive (C: drive) and print to any connected printer.
