Forgot or Want to Change Your UBITName Password?

Change or reset your UBITName password using the UBITName Manager, a self-service website.

Instructions

1. Log in to the UBITName Manager using your current UBITName and password

2. Select Change your UBITName Password

3. Enter a new password that meets the listed password guidelines into the New Password field

4. Confirm the password by re-entering it in the Confirm New Password field, then click or tap Change password

5. You should see a message that your password was successfully changed

1. Go to the UBITName Manager

2. Enter your UBITName in the UBITName field

3. Click or tap Continue

4. Under Forgot password?, select Text a one-time PIN to my mobile number

5. Enter the PIN that was sent to the non-UB email address that you registered as a recovery option in the PIN field, and click or tap Login

6. Click or tap Change your UBITName Password

7. Create a new password that meets the guidelines listed above the New Password field and enter it in the New Password field

8 Confirm the password by entering it in the Confirm New Password field, then click or tap Change password

9. You should see a message that your password was successfully changed

1. Go to the UBITName Manager

2. Enter your UBITName in the UBITName field

3. Click or tap Continue

4. Under Forgot password?, select Text a one-time PIN to my mobile number

5. Check your phone for a PIN

6. Enter the PIN in the One-Time PIN field

7. Click or tap Change your UBITName Password

8. Create a new password that meets the guidelines listed above the New Password field and enter it in the New Password field

9. Confirm the password by entering it in the Confirm New Password field, then click or tap Change password

10. You should see a message that your password was successfully changed

1. Go to the UBITName Manager

2. Enter your UBITName in the UBITName field

3. Click or tap Continue

4. Under Forgot password?, select Let me answer my security questions

5 Enter the answers to your security questions

6. Click or tap Login

Choose from the following options:

Option 1. Upload the following items to our secure UBbox folder:

  1. A document with:
    • Your full name 
    • A non-UB email address or telephone number you can be reached at during
  2. A copy of photo ID (such as a driver's license or passport) that:
    • Is government-issued
    • Shows your date of birth
    • Is in English
    • Is legible
    • Is current (not expired)

UBIT Help Center staff will contact you at the  non-UB email address and/or telephone number you provide.

Option 2: Bring photo ID in person

  • Access is currently restricted to UB students, faculty and staff. Bring photo ID to the UB Tech Squad counter in 3rd floor Silverman (North Campus). Your photo I.D. must meet the same requirements as uploading, above. A UB Card with your picture on it is only accepted at the UBIT Help Center walk-up counter.

Option 3: Call the UBIT Help Center

  • Call 716-645-3542 during business hours and verify your identity with UBIT Help Center staff using multiple data points so we can be sure it’s really you.

The claim state on your account will be reset to "Unclaimed." This will:

  • Remove your current password
  • Remove any self-service reset mechanisms (phone/text/security questions), if you set any
  • Set Activation State (visible in UBIDM) to Unclaimed

A new One-Time-Password will be generated for you that you will use to claim your account and set a new password.
