UBIT SECURITY ALERT, 11/01/2017

UB Login Phish - Do not click 'NEW MESSAGE FROM UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO (UPDATE REQUIRED).' email 11-01-17

An email supposedly from "UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO" has PDF attachment that indicates that your "faculty account needs to be updated" and asks you to click a link. The link is attempting to steal your credentials.

Red flags: How you can tell it is a fake

 
  1. Notice the email "From" address is not @buffalo.edu
  2. Message does not address you personnally.
  3. Misspellings in messages signature.

I already clicked the links. What should I do?

  • If clicked on the link, but did not enter your password, please check that your computer security or anti virus program is on and up to date.

I did not click on the links. What should I do?

Delete the email.
