UBIT SECURITY ALERT, 1/25/2018

UB Login Phish - Do not click 'UPDATE- UB Data Storage Infrastructure Available During Maintenance' email 1-25-18

An email supposedly coming from the NOC (Network Operations Center) claims that student e-mails will be removed from a server and warning that if you do not log into the link provided, supposedly to MYUB, that you will lose access to University services.  The link that you are supposed to click on to retrieve this message attempts to steal your UBIT credentials.

Red flags: How you can tell it is a fake

  1. Notice the email "From" address is not a buffalo.edu address
  2. Hovering over URL shows it is not a buffalo.edu site

I already clicked the links. What should I do?

  • If clicked on the link, but did not enter your password, please check that your computer security or anti virus program is on and up to date.

I did not click on the links. What should I do?

Delete the email.
