Dear University Community,

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Librarian Elizabeth Adelman as Interim Vice Provost for University Libraries, effective June 13, 2018. She succeeds Austin Booth who is leaving UB for New York University.

Ms. Adelman, who holds a JD and MLS and is a recipient of the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Librarianship, has served as Director of UB’s Charles B. Sears Law Library and Vice Dean for Legal Information Services since 2011. Before being appointed as Director, she was Associate Director of the Law Library and Head of Collection Management. She also previously served as Interim and Acting Director of the Law Library.

Ms. Adelman currently serves as an elected member of the American Association of Law Libraries Executive Board and previously served as chair of the Society of American Law Library Directors. A noted scholar of legal librarianship and research, she led the creation of the New York Codes, Rules and Regulations Digital Archive, which won a Notable New York Documents award from the New York Library Association’s Government Information Roundtable.  Ms. Adelman has co-authored four books and written numerous articles and electronic legal research tutorials, called “CALI Lessons.”

I am grateful to Ms. Adelman for her willingness to assume this important interim leadership role.  This fall, I will launch a national search, which will be completed by the end of the 2018-19 academic year.

Sincerely,

Charles F. Zukoski
Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs
