Dear University Community:

SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor of Periodontics and Endodontics, Joseph J. Zambon, DDS, PhD, has been named Acting Dean of the School of Dental Medicine, effective July 13, 2015, while Dean Michael Glick is on research leave.

Professor Zambon has been a UB faculty member in the School of Dental Medicine since 1982.  He currently serves as Associate Dean for Advanced Education and Faculty Advancement and previously served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, from 1995-2014.

A nationally and internationally-recognized authority on periodontal pathogens and an experienced clinician, Professor Zambon is a prolific and well-funded researcher whose contributions have been recognized by numerous awards and honors.

We are grateful to Professor Zambon for his willingness to serve as Acting Dean during this transitional period. Our expectation is that he will assume the role of Interim Dean on August 15, 2015, when Dean Glick’s service as Dean concludes.  At the start of the fall semester, we will launch a national search for our next Dean of the School of Dental Medicine.

Sincerely,

Charles F. Zukoski
Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs

Michael E. Cain, M.D.

Vice President for Health Sciences and Dean of the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences
