The daylong event will feature plenary sessions with faculty experts, student poster presentations, guided tours and demonstrations of research laboratories and interactive speaker panels.

  • The event will showcase three marquee SSISTL research spaces: The Sustainable Urban Mobility and Intelligent Transportation Lab (SUMIT), located in 115 Ketter Hall
  • The Transportation Research and Visualization Laboratory (TRAVL), located in 101 and 102 Ketter Hall
  • The UB Connected and Autonomous Vehicle Enclosure (CAVE), located near Crofts Hall and currently under construction, with an expected opening in late 2026

Together, these spaces will support scaled and full-size research on connected and autonomous vehicle (CAV) technologies through physical, virtual, and mixed-reality environments. These capabilities, which are unique among universities across North America, will strengthen UB’s competitive advantage in CAV research and related applications in training, education, and human factors.

The event will also focus on several research and collaboration themes:

  • The Rise of Autonomy, which will explore testing, validation and modifying autonomous vehicle systems in naturalistic environments
  • Human-Centered Mobility, which will focus on integrating human perspectives and behavioral science into CAV design and operations
  • Connected Environments, which will examine how connected and autonomous technologies can improve safety, efficiency and accessibility

Invited attendees from industry, academia, and government will participate in hands-on workshops and breakout sessions, engage with SSISTL researchers, and explore emerging ideas shaping the future of transportation and human mobility.

Transportation Exhibition Day will be held in the Jeannette Martin Room, 567 Capen Hall, on UB’s North Campus in Amherst, New York. A brief reception will follow at the University Club in Capen Hall.
