BUFFALO, N.Y. — This spring, the University at Buffalo School of Management will host a free lecture given by George R. Botic, CPA, on the regulatory implications of artificial intelligence in accounting and auditing.
Presented by the school’s Helen and Oscar Sufrin Lectureship in Accounting, Botic’s talk — titled “How AI is shaping auditing and accounting” — will be held at 5:15 p.m. on April 7 in Knox 20 on UB’s North Campus.
Botic is a member of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, and recently served as acting chair. Previously, he was director of the PCAOB’s Division of Registration and Inspections. In that role, he oversaw the registration and inspection of all domestic and foreign accounting firms that audit the public companies whose securities trade in the U.S., as well as all broker-dealer audits. He has also served as director of the PCAOB’s Office of International Affairs.
The PCAOB was established by Congress as the main regulator for audits of publicly traded companies in the U.S.
Open to the public, the free lecture will be followed by Q&A. Advance registration is required by April 5; visit https://bit.ly/SufrinLecture26 to reserve a seat. Guests may begin arriving at 5 p.m. and the presentation will begin promptly at 5:15 p.m. For more information, contact Rachel Sluberski, department administrator in the UB School of Management, at rslubers@buffalo.edu.
