Kyle Hunt, an Industrial and Systems Engineering major, began to look for research opportunities when he was a sophomore. Using ELN's Project Portal, Kyle found an opportunity to work in Professor Jun Zhuang's Decision, Risk, and Data Lab on campus.
Even though he was only an undergrad, he began to work with PhD-level students on data analysis during natural disasters and quickly found his niche. Over the past couple of years, Kyle, with the encouragement of his mentor, Dr. Zhuang, has published papers and presented his research at 13 different conferences! Through this opportunity, he has gained work and life experience far beyond his expectations; he says he has many new career options open to him, but for now, he loves the work he has been doing so much, he has decided to continue work in this field at UB at the PhD level.
If you would like to gain experience like Kyle's, check out the Project Portal or visit ELN in 24 Capen Hall to learn more.
