Sleepy Hollow Radio Play Production

Katharine Cornell Theatre.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow: A Radio Play by Washington Irving, adapted for live audio performance by Aaron Mays, work will be rehearsed, produced, and recorded right here at UB, in the Katharine Cornell Theatre. Theatre practitioners are invited to participate in voice artists and technical production roles including stage management, run crew, and foley sound artistry.

Project description

WBFO and UB’s Department of Theatre and Dance are collaborating on an exciting new opportunity for our students, and giving back to our community in a new way: creating a radio adaptation of Washington Irving’s classic tale, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. We will work with experts from WBFO to create the entire world of this radio play, including creating and recording our own foley effects to mimic traditional radio plays from the 1940’s. This project will rehearse during the week of August 20th, with a brief tech period included prior to two performances / recordings on August 24th. There will be live audiences at these two performances / recordings, and the radio play itself will air on and around Halloween: October 31, 2024. This is a special project adjacent to the Theatre and Dance production season that provides a portfolio development opportunity for performing art students who are pursuing careers in live and recorded events. This will count for 1 credit, as an independent study class assignment of TH499.
