Leadership House Peer Mentors: Mentoring a Community of Rising UB Leaders

The 2022-2023 Leadership House students and Peer Mentors at their fall retreat in Barker, NY.

Utilize your experience as a Leadership House Peer Mentor to build the Leadership House community, enhance your leadership skills, and learn how to effectively market the skills you have developed.

Project description

Leadership House is a leadership development program for first-year students. Up to 30 aspiring student leaders will be selected for the program each year. Leadership House Peer Mentors are past Leadership House students that have completed the Leadership House program and mentor one or more current Leadership House students. Peer Mentors help Leadership House students get adjusted to starting college at UB, serve as a resource for advice and support, organize professional development opportunities for Leadership House students, and work to establish a strong and supportive community of leaders.

Project outcome

Leadership House Peer Mentors will create a 5-minute presentation that they will present to the Leadership House Coordinator and Graduate Assistant. This will be a culmination of their experience in Leadership House and will focus on what they have done as a mentor to help build and foster a better community in Leadership House. This PowerPoint presentation will serve as evidence of members’ project experience and accomplishments, which will be embedded in their digital badges.
