The Marianne Moore Digital Archive has exclusive permission to publish online, in facing-page manuscript and transcription, all 122 notebooks by the important modernist poet, Marianne Moore (1887-1972). These notebooks contain extraordinary records of the daily, intellectual, and creative life of the poet from 1905 through around 1970—including her notes on reading, conversations she overheard, travel, finances, intellectual and artistic events she attended (lectures, museum exhibits, concerts, sermons), and very early drafts toward her poetry. The MMDA's online publications consist of material never before published in any form, all open and accessible to the public. The website also includes extensive educational and critical tools and commentary, including hard to find newsletters and critical essays on Moore. This groundbreaking project is a collaborative effort involving AI researchers; for example, it harnesses Venu Govindaraju's expertise in document analysis and recognition (DAR), particularly within the realms of Digital Libraries and Multilingual OCR.
