Digital Accessibility Review Checklist

Use this step-by-step workflow as a quick reference when reviewing your digital instructional materials.

For detailed guidance on specific tools and remediation methods, see the Accessibility Review Process.

Step one: Determine if the content is required

Ask:

Is this content essential for students to meet a learning outcome?

  • Yes: Continue to step two
  • No: Consider removing it or offering it as optional or supplemental material.

Step two: Review digital accessibility

Ask:

Can all students, including those with visual, auditory, motor or cognitive disabilities, access, navigate and understand the content?

Step three: Confirm availability of alternative formats

Ask:

Do all course materials, including those outside UB Learns, have accessible versions or equivalent options for students who need them?

  • Yes: Proceed to step four.
  • No: Identify the materials that are not accessible or do not have an accessible version, and return to step three to review them.

Step four: Plan for remediation completion

Ask:

Will all identified accessibility issues be remediated by April 24, 2026?

  • Yes: Proceed to step five.
  • No: Create an action plan and timeline for remediation.

Step five: Confirm completion and maintain accessibility

You've successfully made your course more accessible and inclusive!

Be sure to maintain this momentum for future courses and addtional course content.

Once remediation is complete:

  • Review new course materials before sharing them with students.
  • Recheck accessibility each semester to ensure continued compliance.
  • Continue partnering with CATT and your accessibility liaison for ongoing support.
