About Lucy Mastrandrea & Kathleen Bethin
Dr. Mastrandrea received her MD-PhD training at the University at Buffalo, School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. She then went on to complete her Pediatric Residency and Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship training at the Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo. Dr. Mastrandrea is the Division Chief of Pediatric Endocrinology and the Medical Director of the UBMD Pediatrics and Oishei Children’s Hospital of Buffalo Diabetes Center. Her research interests include bringing novel therapies to market for the treatment of diabetes and obesity. Dr. Mastrandrea is the chair-elect of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Section on Endocrinology, with a focus on advocacy related to endocrine and diabetes treatment. She is passionate about providing excellent and equitable medical care to children in Western New York. 

Dr. Bethin received her MD-PhD from the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences.  She completed both her Pediatric Residency and Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and St. Louis Childrens Hospital.  Dr. Bethin is the Pediatric fellowship Director and the Associate Chair for Outpatient Clinical Affairs for UBMD Pediatrics. Her research interests include improving care of children with diabetes including bringing new drugs to market and creating ways to provide equitable care to children serviced by us.
