About Tom Murdock
Thomas (Tom) Murdock is a clinical associate professor of entrepreneurship at the University at Buffalo School of Management. He works with student entrepreneurs and teaches courses including Entrepreneurship & Small Business, Intro to Entrepreneurship, Leadership & Creativity for Entrepreneurs, and Social Innovation. He has been instrumental in the building UB’s entrepreneurship program to a point of national rankings and awards from entities including VentureWell, the Deshpande Foundation, USASBE, Princeton Review, and Entrepreneur.com. Personally, Tom was named InfoTech’s innovative educator of the year in 2024.
In addition to his faculty role, he served as general manager and co-PI of the Western New York Incubator Network (WIN) from its inception in 2014 until 2025. WIN is a state-authorized consortium of ten business incubators that connects more than 200 early stage ventures to the students, resources, and facilities of the University at Buffalo. Under his leadership, WIN provided direct assistance to companies raising $50M in outside capital and creating 500 new jobs.
Previously, he served as Senior Director of the Buffalo Niagara Partnership with responsibility for the organization’s communications, membership, and insurance departments. Before transitioning into economic development, he held roles in management consulting at Deloitte Consulting LLP and in marketing management at United Technologies Corporation. He holds a BS in Business Management from Miami University and an MBA from the University of Notre Dame.
