Countdown to Commencement
Countdown to Commencement was a huge success this year! From new events to favorite UB traditions, the celebration was packed with unforgettable moments. Thanks for celebrating with us, Class of 2026, we had a blast counting down to Commencement with you. Check out photos from some of the events below.
Alumni Grad Cap Design Contest
The Office of Alumni Engagement sponsored this annual contest celebrating the school spirit, creativity and imagination of our newest grads. Members of the Class of 2026 designed and submitted their caps for the chance to win awesome prizes, including a grand prize of a UB diploma frame from Church Hill Classics, valued at $250, for the “Best in Show” winner.
Graduates showcased their talent and UB pride in the following categories:
- Most Sentimental – meaningful quotes or personal stories behind the design
- Most Artistic – creative and imaginative designs
- Most True Blue/Major/Career Related – UB pride, major-related, or future career-related themes
- Most Humorous – hilarious memes, funny jokes, and laughs inspired by life at UB
- Best in Show – the caps across all categories that made the judges say “WOW”
Church Hill Classics Diploma Frames
You earned it—now frame it! Show off your UB pride with a Church Hill Classics diploma frame that’s as bold as your degree. Check out the selection of UB dipoma frames.
UB Alumni Diploma Frame Drawing
2026 Graduates earned one entry into a drawing for each alumni-hosted Countdown to Commencement event/activity they participated in, including Graduating Class Expo, Alumni Grad Cap Decorating, Sign-A-Bull, Toast to 2026 (Alumni Tables), UB Founders Day Celebration, Forever Blue Bash, and Graduating Students Reflection Survey.
One diploma frame winner will be announced before the end of May 2026, via UB Future Alumni Network Instagram (@ubuffaloFAN).
2026 Graduating Class Campaign
Support the Graduating Class Campaign and earn a philanthropy cord! Leave a meaningful legacy at the university you've called home. With your gift of $20.26 to the Graduating Class Campaign, you can:
- Join a Bulls tradition. The Graduating Class Campaign touches every area of campus. No matter your major or extracurricular activities, previous gifts made by students and alumni have affected your college experience.
- Steer the future. By making your gift, you help ensure that future students can create their own unique UB experiences – just like you did.
- Bleed blue. Wear green. Your participation shows your pride in UB and the education you received, setting a powerful example for students and alumni.
Members of the graduating class who support the university with a gift of $20.26 — representing their class year — will receive a special green honor cord to wear at Commencement symbolizing their gift to future Bulls.

There is a lot to do as you make the transition from a UB student to a UB graduate. Below are some quick ways to stay connected to your UB family.
Technology Checklist for Leaving UB
Your subscription to US-provided software like Microsoft 365 ends six months after graduation. This will not affect you if you are a continuing and actively enrolled student.
- Use UBmail for six months after graduation: Accounts and contents will be removed after six months. Be sure to backup any data you want to save to a personal email.
- Get transcripts anytime: You never lose access to MyUB and HUB, so your UB transcripts and more are always available at myub.buffalo.edu.
- Backup your OneDrive an UBbox files: To save your work from UB, you'll need to download your files and move them to personal storage.
