UB’s annual commencement season always fills me with a sense of hope and possibility. As our graduates crossed the stage last month, I was reminded of the transformative journeys they had embarked upon at the University at Buffalo—journeys fueled by knowledge, discovery and an ambition to contribute meaningfully to the world.

Celebrating the achievements of our graduates highlights a lasting truth: Higher education is one of society’s greatest assets.

As a premier public research university, UB has long advanced ideas that improve lives—research that cures disease, innovations that power our economy and solutions that strengthen our communities. This work is essential to our mission of excellence and impact.

Thanks to the dedication of our world-class faculty—experts at the forefront of fields from law and medicine to architecture and engineering—we remain on the cutting edge of discovery. And we are proud to be the home of Empire AI, a groundbreaking public-private consortium that will ensure New York State leads the way in ethical artificial intelligence research and application.

Our alumni are equally vital to our university mission. The education you received at UB—from rigorous classroom learning to real-world experience—sparked a lifelong passion for discovery and growth. For generations of students, our vibrant and inclusive campus culture enhanced their UB experience, fostering a deep sense of belonging and “True Blue” pride. Our graduates leave UB equipped with the knowledge, skills and leadership capabilities to serve as changemakers who drive progress and prove, every day, that a UB education makes a difference.

Our newest graduates—some 9,600 of them over the past academic year —are poised to do just that. Their UB degrees stand as a testament to this readiness, empowering our global alumni network to lead and innovate in diverse fields, thereby shaping the future of society.

As always, thank you for your continued support, and for your belief in the power of knowledge to change the world.

Sincerely,

Satish K. Tripathi

President
