Admissions Visits and Tours
Experience the University at Buffalo in person with an Admissions presentation and guided walking tour led by current students. Tours run multiple times per week.
Webinars and Virtual Sessions
Make the most of your on-campus visit by attending a virtual session first! Get answers to your questions and see presentations online so you can focus on unique campus offerings while you are at UB.
Congratulations on your acceptance to the University at Buffalo! You’re in—now it’s time to make it official. Follow the steps below to confirm your spot and begin your journey as a UB Bull.
For Transfer Students:
Start by officially claiming your place at UB.
- Submit your $150 enrollment/tuition deposit by your deadline
- Fall: May 1 or 10 days after acceptance
- Spring: Dec. 1 or 10 days after acceptance
This unlocks access to orientation and your next enrollment steps.
Before registering, take time to understand how your previous coursework applies at UB. Your academic advisor will help you interpret and apply this toward your degree plan.
- Review your Transfer Credit Report (included with your admission materials)
- See how courses apply to:
- Your major requirements
- UB Curriculum pathways (general education)
- Note: Courses still in progress will be reviewed after final transcripts are received
Set yourself up for a smooth first semester.
- Explore your major in the Undergraduate Course Catalog
- Review curriculum and requirements: catalogs.buffalo.edu
- Meet with your academic advisor to:
- Review transfer credits
- Build your first-term schedule
- Align courses with your goals
Some transfer credits may need additional review.
- TR999 (or TR999TR): Course not yet evaluated
- You can request review through the TAURUS system
- Submit a syllabus if your course is not listed in the equivalency database
Important:
- Meet with your advisor first—requests are only processed if applicable
- Reviews may take several weeks during busy periods
Your transfer credits may fulfill general education requirements.
- Credits with UB Area or SUNY GER designations can apply to:
- Thematic Pathways (broad academic areas)
- Global Pathways (global awareness and perspectives)
- These help keep you on track toward degree completion
Your report will show how each course applies.
Make sure your aid is in place.
- Complete the FAFSA at studentaid.gov
- UB Federal School Code: 002837
- NYS students: complete TAP application
- TAP Code: 1010
Submit early to maximize your eligibility.
Orientation prepares you to start strong.
- Registration opens after you submit your deposit
- You’ll receive instructions after committing
- Orientation includes your next enrollment steps
New York State requirements must be completed before classes.
- Provide proof of:
- MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) immunization
- Meningitis compliance
Instructions are included in your orientation steps.
If you plan to live on campus:
- Submit your housing application and deposit
- Choose your assignment based on your selection time
- Assignments are not based on major or schedule
Housing Waitlist
The Fall 2026 housing application deadline was May 8. You can still apply for housing but you will be placed on the waitlist. Waiting list applicants will be offered housing on a space-available and eligibility basis.
