Microsoft 365 is Microsoft's collection of professional productivity tools, available to use online and (in some cases) to download and install. Your UB affiliation determines which apps are available to you.

Eligibility

  • Current UB students, faculty and staff

Retirees and alumni can enjoy Microsoft 365-powered UBmail (Exchange Online), but will not have access to the other available apps.

Common questions

Do I need an internet connection?

  • To use in-browser apps, to download apps to install, to activate apps, or to use files with OneDrive: Yes.
  • To use apps you have already downloaded and activated: No.

Does my FERPA protection extend to Microsoft 365?

Any FERPA non-release requests you have in place will be reflected in Microsoft 365. See FERPA for more information.

I pay for Microsoft 365 services with my UBmail account. Will these be affected?

No. Your personal account will retain access to paid services.
