Setting Jabber to Launch Automatically

You can have Jabber start automatically when your computer starts.

  1. To set Jabber to start when your computer starts:
  2. Windows: Click the gear menu and choose Settings
  3. Mac: Select Jabber > Options
  4. Select General  and check Start Cisco Jabber when my computer starts to automatically launch Jabber when your computer starts.
  5. Click OK.

Choosing Themes and App View

Cisco Jabber has two display modes: Default, with a light background, and Dark, with a black background. A third option is High Contrast.

Two views are available for how you want Cisco Jabber to display: Classic, which resembles older versions of Cisco Jabber, or Modern, which offers a single pane for all your functions.

Zoom image: Click your avatar, choose Settings > Appearance then select the mode or view you want and click OK Click your avatar, choose Settings > Appearance then select the mode or view you want and click OK.

To change either the display mode or view:

  1. Click your Cisco Jabber avatar >  Settings > Appearance.
  2. Choose the display mode or view you want
  3. Click Apply or OK

Enabling Automatic Spell Check

Spell check can be enabled to correct spelling errors as you type. This may be useful if you use Chat.

Spelling in Windows

  1. Click the  gear menu and choose Settings.
  2. Select General then check Check spelling automatically.
  3. Click OK.

Spelling in Mac

  1. Select Jabber > Preferences
  2. Select Chats
  3. Select the spelling rule from Auto-correct spelling

Adjusting Speakers, Microphones and Ringers

You can adjust the ringer, microphone and speaker volume for Jabber.

  1. Select the following:
    • Windows: Click the gear menu and choose Settings
    • Mac: Select Jabber > Preferences and click General
  2. Select Audio
  3. Select your Ringer/Alerts, Speaker and Microphone source, then adjust the slider beneath it to adjust the volume level. In Jabber 12.9.0, if you have multiple lines, you may choose separate ringtones for each.
  4. If you have multiple audio devices, click Advanced and select the order of preference to use with Jabber, then click OK
  5. Click OK

Bringing Conversation Window to the Front

You can have Jabber bring your conversation to the front of your computer.

Windows

  1. Click the gear menu and choose Settings.
  2. Select Calls.
  3. Select On all calls next to Computer.
  4. Click OK.

Macintosh

  1. Select Jabber > Preferences
  2. Click General 
  3. Select Keep phone window on top of all other windows.
