BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo has been ranked among New York State’s top employers in Forbes’ fifth annual America’s Best Employers by State rankings.

UB, New York’s flagship university, is ranked 12th in the state, according to Forbes. It’s also No. 1 among public universities and one of the top university employers overall in the state.

The ranking gives UB’s 5,400 employees plenty of reason to flex their True Blue pride. UB is widely recognized as a great place to work, due to its salary and benefits packages, the diversity of its students and employees, and its prominent role in helping improve life in Western New York and beyond.

In addition, as UB welcomes students to campus for the start of the fall semester, it does so amidst its largest faculty-hiring initiative in recent history, with plans to hire upward of 200 full-time faculty over the next two years.

Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista to survey 70,000 employees across the United States at companies with more than 500 employees, asking them to rate their employer overall and in categories such as work environment, gender pay equity, opportunities for advancement, pride in the company’s product or services and more. A total of 1,392 organizations made the list.

Forbes explains that “If you’re less than satisfied with your employer or are considering a switch, look no further than Forbes’ fifth annual list of America’s Best Employers By State. These aren’t the best large or midsize employers nationally, but a deeper look at which companies are closer-to-home options for every American worker.”

This isn’t the first time UB has appeared on a Forbes employers ranking. In 2021, Forbes ranked UB 19th on its list of best U.S. large employers. And UB came in at No. 6 in Buffalo Business First’s list of largest Buffalo employers earlier this year.
